Our first official week has come to an end and I must say I am so blessed to have been able to get to know all of my middle school scribes and scientists! There is such amazing diversity within all of our classrooms and everyone is really beginning to get into the groove of our Science Lab routines and flow.
Today I was lucky enough to have all of my students at some point and they all have some sort of homework assignment to work on over the weekend so that they will be prepared to dive right into the content at the beginning of next week!
The students have all gotten a great start in their science notebooks which I will be collecting and evaluating before sending home for parents to look through and sign (this weekend for 8th grade and Monday or Tuesday for 6th and 7th).
Each day I will try to post an update on this site along with the Facebook page explaining what was covered in class as well as any assignments or important announcements. If anything is unclear please email me at dkimbrel@cultureandlanguage.org
6th Grade
We received the interactive textbooks and were able to explore them today! The assignment for the weekend is to read and complete pages 22-27 in the text. Yes, IN THE BOOK! These are interactive books that the students will keep and will actually be writing in. Also, I collected their science notebooks and will be grading them so they will be coming home on Tuesday. Please check that your child is understanding the expectations for the notebook and that I am available throughout the day for support if any confusion occurs. Between their notebooks and their new textbooks they will be fully prepared to tackle the upcoming science content!
7th Affirm 7th Aspire
Both classes have the same assignment. We are starting off our year looking at health and nutrition so their assignment is to complete a food log for either Saturday or Sunday. They have the worksheet that needs to be filled out (front side only).
8th Grade
We received the interactive textbooks and were able to explore them today! The assignment for the weekend is to read and complete pages 1-7 in the text. Yes, IN THE BOOK! These are interactive books that the students will keep and will actually be writing in. Also, I had collected their notebooks earlier in the week and they will be bringing them home for you to look at and sign. Please check that your child is understanding the expectations for the notebook and that I am available throughout the day for support if any confusion occurs. The notebooks looked great and between those and their new textbooks they will be fully prepared to tackle the upcoming science content!
Have relaxing and blessed weekend!
Ms. Kimbrel
